For those who will be auditioning for the GMEA All-State Band:
District All-State auditions are scheduled for December 11 at Midtown HS (formerly Grady HS). Here are the details:
There will be signs directing you to registration once you arrive on campus at Midtown HS (929 Charles Allen Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30309)
Students must check in at least 30 minutes before their audition time. However, I recommend getting there early enough to check in and have thorough warm up.
There will be signs directing you where to go for your audition and warm up areas. You should be outside of the audition room by your time listed below. Students and monitors are the only people permitted in the audition areas.
You may leave once you have finished your audition performance. Results should be in on the following Monday or Tuesday.
Students should dress comfortably. There is no expectation of attire, and the judges do not care what you are wearing. Having judged every year, I see students in suits, tuxedos, etc. This is not necessary. We don't care what you are wearing.
The following table lists your audition information. Your audition room will most likely be labeled with the instrument and panel number. There will be signs telling you where to go.
Additional Information From the District All-State Host
APSMask Policy
Masks are to be worn in the building at all times. The only time masks are not required is when students are actively playing their instruments. Thank you for adhering to this policy.
Midtown High School
929 Charles Allen Dr.
Atlanta, GA 30309
Students should plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their scheduled audition time. Parents should drop students off in the 10th street stadium parking lot in front of the courtyard (you will see several tables and benches). We will have volunteers stationed to help direct students where to go and parents where to park. Students will enter into the auditorium lobby to check in. They should then make their way to cafeteria for warm up area. After students have warmed up, they should report to their designated audition area no later than 10 minutes prior to their scheduled audition time. There will be guides to direct students and parents. Items left unattended in the cafeteria are the responsibility of the student. Midtown Hs is not liable for any property that is left unattended.
Parking
There are three designated parking lots at Midtown HS. We have parking In the 10th street stadium lot, the 10th street lot in front on the new building, and the teachers parking lot off of 8th street (this is the farthest from the audition area). Street parking is also available but is generally very limited on weekends. Once again, parents should drop off students and then find parking.
