Incoming students
The following is some general information about our program for incoming ninth graders and transfer students. Please contact Mr. Brown here if you have any other questions.
Welcome
The North Springs Band is not like any other program. We have students from all over north and south Fulton County who come to our school for something unique and diverse. Our small size allows us the flexibility to offer opportunities for students that they will not find elsewhere. It also allows us to develop students into responsible leaders who are comfortable collaborating and creating opportunities for performance and service.
Tradition
Although we are different, the North Springs Band program does offer traditional ensembles:
-
Band Ensembles - we offer percussion class and beginning, intermediate and advanced band classes that students can take for a grade. These various levels allow us to meet the students at their level and provide the instruction necessary to advance musically.
-
Marching Band - this extracurricular group rehearses just four hours a week, and we perform at every home and away varsity football game. We do not compete, but we do have occasional performances outside of football. For instance, the Fulton County Marching Band Exposition and a parade or two are always on our annual calendar.
-
Pit Orchestra - this extracurricular ensemble performs the music for our main-stage musicals in collaboration with the theater and dance departments.
-
Rock Bands - we have multiple rock ensembles that perform in the school and around the community. These are mostly student-led experiences.
-
Tri-M Music Honors Society - this honor group is made up of students from band, orchestra, and chorus. These students volunteer and perform in the school and around the community to promote music in our schools.
-
Music Studio - We are adding classes that will allow us to train students in studio recording and careers in music.
